From:
Katie Goetz
To:
GRP -City Council
Cc:
nmerriman(d)midpen-housing.ora
Subject:
609 Price Ave
Date:
Monday, October 12, 2020 3:07:56 PM
Dear Redwood City Council,
I am writing to urge you to vote Yes on the proposal from MidPen Housing to develop 80
units of affordable housing at 609 Price Ave in Redwood City.
You don't need me to tell you, the need for affordable housing for low income and very low
income families and individuals is great. MidPen housing has a wait list of over 500 Redwood
City families who are waiting for affordable housing. When new affordable apartments
become available families apply for units at a twenty to one ratio.
Redwood City values being a welcoming city. I think we often think of this in terms of
immigrants, but welcome must also extend to people across the economic spectrum. For
Redwood City to continue to be a vibrant, diverse community we have a moral imperative to
provide housing for people at all income levels. The MidPen project at 609 Price Ave is an
opportunity to live into this imperative.
Sincerely,
Katie Goetz
pastor, Woodside Road United Methodist Church
