From: Sue Diare
To: GRP-City Council
Cc: Sue Diare
Subject: Housing. Developmentally Disabled
Date: Monday, October 12, 2020 7:35:17 AM
10 11 2020
Dear Mayor and City Council:
Truly affordable housing is very needed.
Constituents who have developmental disabilities, such as autism, Down syndrome; Cerebral
palsy, Willams syndrome , need your special leadership to ensure that their need is clear in
policies of the City.
There are many existing agencies that are available to assist persons who have developmental
challenges , such as the State Regional Center and non-profit vendors. However, if you as
City leaders do not direct that a city policy is to provide the fundamental housing opportunities
none of these agencies can provide individual housing support in their home city.
Persons who have a developmental disability are eager to work and volunteer in their home
city.
Because of their unique challenges it "takes a village" to help enable them.
Obviously, truly affordable housing is fundamental.
Your leadership is essential today.
Thank you for your understanding and for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely:
Sue Digre
PARCA FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES &ADVOCACY Department Director
(Free services)
