6.J. - Page 4 of 5 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SUPPORTING THE ROOSEVELT AVENUE PILOT TRAFFIC CALMING <br />IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT AND THE EL CAMINO REAL CORRIDOR <br />SAFETY PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATIONS <br />TO THE SAN MATEO COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY FOR <br />PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PROGRAM FUNDING <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City (Sponsor) has identified traffic safety concerns and <br />poor driver behavior on two corridors in Redwood City and is committed to increasing the safety <br />of people riding bicycles and walking on and across these corridors, and <br />WHEREAS, the Sponsor has developed the Roosevelt Avenue Pilot Traffic Calming <br />Implementation Project and the EI Camino Real Corridor Safety Project (Projects) to install traffic <br />calming measures and provide new and improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities that will reduce <br />speeding, improve driver behavior, increase visibility of vulnerable road users and encourage <br />more people to choose walking and bicycling for trips in Redwood City, and <br />WHEREAS, it will cost $894,834 to implement the Project scope for Roosevelt Avenue <br />Pilot Traffic Calming Implementation and $400,000 to implement the Project scope for EI Camino <br />Real Corridor Safety, and <br />WHEREAS, the Sponsor seeks $625,000 for the Roosevelt Avenue Pilot Traffic Calming <br />Implementation Project and $300,000 for the EI Camino Real Corridor Safety Project, and <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) issued a Call for <br />Projects for the Measure A & W Pedestrian and Bicycle Program on August 7, 2020, and <br />WHEREAS, the TA requires a governing board resolution from the Sponsor for the <br />following items: <br />1. Supporting the Projects and applications for $925,000 in TA Pedestrian and <br />Bicycle Program funds for Roosevelt Avenue Pilot Traffic Calming Implementation Project <br />($625,000) and for EI Camino Real Corridor Safety Project ($300,000), and <br />2. Committing the Sponsor to the completion of the Projects, including the <br />commitment of matching funds in the amount of $369,834 needed for implementation ($269,834 <br />ATTY/RESO.0096/CCRESO ROOSEVELT AVE PILOT TRAFFIC CALMING IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT <br />REV: 10-02-2020 PR <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />:I <br />
