Waive first reading and introduce ordinance to City Code Chapter 20, Article VII, establishing Division <br />16, pertaining to Commercial Permit Parking; and <br />2. Waive second reading and adopt revised Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />Amending Section 20.96 of Division 1 of Article VII of Chapter 20 of the City Code of Redwood City Relating <br />to Two Hour Parking, including Hansen Way. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />Over the last few years, some Redwood City businesses have experienced business impacts due to <br />recreational vehicles parked on city streets. These impacts include loss of customer/employee parking, <br />theft, debris left on road or in front of business, drug use, unsanitary conditions, harassment, and small <br />fire threats. The impacts have been made worse by the Covid-19 pandemic. <br />Recently, the City Council approved two-hour parking restrictions in several commercial areas along with <br />a Safe Parking Program to help recreational vehicle dwellers transition to new housing options and into a <br />designated parking area. <br />In developing the Safe Parking Program, City staff held several discussions with the business community. <br />They have strongly supported the City's efforts and the parking restrictions recently approved by the City <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />167 <br />
