The proposed browning out of Engine 9
leaves our community even more vulnerable to fires and natural disasters than we already are.
Additionally, with the increased community support our firefighters offer the homeless
community, this leaves the most vulnerable in our city with even less. It goes without saying,
this will happen in the middle of the most disastrous fire season on record,
This is especially frustrating after voting for measure RR, it was my understanding these funds
were to be allocated directly to ensure more firefighters, not less. This is exactly why voters
have no faith in our government and community leadership.
As a council, you have voted for extraordinary growth of this city which has affected the
population and infrastructure greatly. Reducing essential services is no way to deal with
issues this lack of foresight has caused. It is understood these are unprecedented times for all
of us, but this community deserves, at the very least, the same level of safety we depend on,
have voted for, and have paid for. We implore you to vote against cutting essential workers
by browning out Engine 9.
Best regards,
"a azzo
