From: Jessica Murohv
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: DON"T SHUT DOWN ENGINE 9
Date: Monday, October 26, 2020 5:00:40 PM
Counsel members,
It has been brought to my attention as a resident of San Carlos that there is a plan to shut down
Engine 9 for the Redwood City Fire Department due to a budget cut. I understand that a
budget cut needs to happen but shutting an engine down means you are hurting the public. We
will not receive services as quickly as we have in the past. Shutting down an engine could
mean a delayed response time and in turn the difference between life and death in an
emergency.
I am a resident and was not made aware of this cut or allowed to vote. I am scared for the
public as this will only hurt us. Imagine if this was your family that had an emergency and you
needed help but there was a 6 minute or more delay because an engine was coming across
town, not the one that is closest to your house. This could mean the loss of a loved one.
I urge you not to allow this to happen to the people of Redwood City and San Carlos.
Sincerely a mother, wife and daughter to someone that the fire department might need to
respond to.
Jessica Murphy
