Adopt City of Redwood City Fiscal Year 2020-21 Revised Budget
Dear Council Members,
I want to make a public comment on the revised budget and say that the budget cuts to our Fire Department are
alarming during the worst fire season in history. I"m glad to see some reduction in Police funding, but they are
performative since the proposed reductions are temporary. The Police department needs to have permanent and
actual cuts. Choosing not to fill open positions in RWPD is not much of a cut given that there were new hires in
August in the department.
I'm asking you, my City Council, that if you are truly concern about the safety of our community and concern about
balancing the budget to look in to San Francisco's plan they are implementing next month on the changes to their
Police Department. This has been proven to save cities money and it's better for the community overall.
Thank you for your consideration,
Marcelene Luna
Redwood City Resident
Community Resources are Public Safety
