From: Grea & Vielka McCarthy
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: Budget cuys for the Fire Department
Date: Monday, October 26, 2020 6:24:38 PM
Dear Council Members,
I am alarmed that you are considering cutting a substantial amount from the Fire
Department budget and are considering closing Stations or engines.
With the Pandemic in full swing, the increase in fires in the interface across the State
and blackouts more prevalent, it boggles my mind that this would seem like a good
idea. Lives are in the balance. This isn't the parks and rec or the library, this is one of
the main reasons cities become incorporated to save lives and protect property!
With the added responsibility and budget including San Carlos, we can not afford to
cut the budget. Both Cities have ootential wildland issues and many homes are in
danger if a wildfire should occur.
In past 10 years, due to the increase in population, we have seen the emergency
calls increase dramatically. With the added Pandemic it is foolish to cut resources
I urge you to reconsider such a drastic measure that would put lives and property at
risk.
Sincerely,
Gregory and Vielka McCarthy
San Carlos, CA
