6.13. - Page 27 of 39
!( KennedyJenks
based on the flow scenarios defined in Task 1.2. Potential places to store or discharge displaced water
will be qualitatively discussed based on the volume and timing of flows. An evaluation of specific storage
or discharge locations (e.g. facility expansions, costs, approvals) will not be performed as part of this task.
Other potential users of purified water will be identified based on discussions with the PREP parties. but
evaluation of these options (e.g. conveyance, costs, approvals) will not be performed as part of this task.
Assumptions: SFPUC will lead this task, and develop a TM describing RWS considerations related to the
addition of purified water to CSR. KJ effort associated with this task is limited to coordination with SFPUC,
including a handoff of the ROM and TM to provide input to SFPUC's analysis of RWS considerations.
Deliverable: SFPUC to develop TM #2 describing RWS considerations, assumptions and outcomes of the
evaluation with summary tables, maps and graphs. SFPUC to provide a Draft and Final TM #2 for
inclusion as an appendix to the Phase 3 Study (Task 3).
1.7 RWA Implementation Considerations
Building on the Phase 2 work, and supplemented by the outcomes from the tasks above, an overview of
the RWA alternatives will be developed including:
(1) Maps showing major facilities and conveyance options (based on Phase 2 work),
(2) Summary of costs from Phase 2 work, updated as appropriate
(3) RWA alternative ranking based on decision metrics in Task 1.1.
A potential implementation timeline will be developed as part of Task 3.1.
Assumptions: Cost spreadsheets from Phase 2 will be used and updated only as needed. Conveyance
alternatives from Phase 2 will not be modified, nor will a preferred alignment be selected. AWP
assumptions from Phase 2 will apply; additional siting studies and facility layouts will not be performed as
part of this work. Ranking will be performed for the 7 sub -alternatives that costs were developed for in
Phase 2, updated to reflect outcomes from Tasks 1.2 to 1.6, and applying the qualitative and quantitative
metrics developed as part of Task 1.1. RWA analysis progress and results will be presented at Webinars
#2, #3 and #4.
Deliverable: Alternative maps, summary cost tables for the 7 RWA Alternatives and ranking outcomes,
which will be incorporated into the Phase 3 Study in (Task 3).
Task 2: Direct Potable Reuse (DPR) Analysis
2.1 Develop Conceptual DPR Alternatives
Conceptual DPR Alternatives will be developed to reflect the following concepts:
(1) Raw Water Augmentation (RaWA) at Bear Gulch Reservoir (6 mgd only), utilizing the existing
6 mgd seasonal water treatment plant year-round to treat and deliver drinking water.
(2) Treated Water Augmentation (TWA) at 1 location near San Mateo WWTP (6 mgd) to deliver
purified water to a local point of connection to the drinking water distribution system.
Page 5
49
ATTY/AGR.2020.216/MOA- SVCW, SFPUC, BAWSCA, Cal -Water, City of San Mateo (Page 24 of 36)
