A siting analysis
and facility layouts will not be performed as part of this work as long as there is sufficient facility
siting and layout information, and comparable cost information.
• Only 1 conveyance alternative will be identified to and from the AWP for each alternative,
following major roads or ROWs if known. Phase 2 alignments and conveyance assumptions will
be used as -appropriate.
• The point of connection to the distribution system for each alternative will be (1) an identified
existing drinking water storage tank, (2) a new proposed storage tank or (3) an existing drinking
water distribution pipeline suitably sized to accept the purified water flow rate. Existing facility
sizes and locations to be provided by the Parties. If an exact location is not able to be
determined, an estimate of necessary conveyance and storage requirements will be made for
comparison purposes.
• Drinking water system facility (pipeline or storage) locations and capacities to be provided by
the PREP Parties.
• The ability of the drinking water system to accept purified water will be based on typical
hydraulic calculations (e.g. Hazen Williams formula) based on pipeline diameter and purified
water flow. Hydraulic modeling of the drinking water system is not included in this task.
• The DPR train for RaWA/TWA will be the same, and will assume full advanced treatment (RO
with AOP) with the addition of Ozone/BAC and free chlorine to provide additional barriers and
log removal credits. AWP layouts will not be developed as part of this task.
• Brine from the AWP will be disposed of through the existing SVCW outfall. The analysis of brine
discharge considerations from Phase 2 would apply.
• The DPR analysis will assume that there is sufficient demand for the purified water, which would
offset local demands on the RWS.
• For Bear Gulch Reservoir, information regarding increases of water levels within Bear Gulch
Reservoir to accommodate the RaWA concept will assist CalWater's determination of size of
reservoir and increases in dam height.
Page 6
50
ATTY/AGR.2020.216/MOA- SVCW, SFPUC, BAWSCA, Cal -Water, City of San Mateo (Page 25 of 36)
