From: Vivian Crisman
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: Public comment Nov 9, 2020 meeting: Item 7A
Date: Monday, November 9, 2020 12:06:14 PM
Dear Council,
My name is Vivian Crisman, and I'm a resident of Redwood Shores. I'm writing this public
comment to express my concern for how the County and possibly the City has blind -sided the
residents of Redwood Shores regarding the conversion of the TownePlace Suites to a housing
facility for the homeless.
I understand the seriousness of the homeless issue, made all the worse by COVID and the
economic downturn. But the process with how this was managed completely lacks
transparency and community engagement. My questions to you as our City Council is why
weren't we informed of this plan by the county and city leaders, why weren't we engaged to
have community input so we can express our questions and concerns, why would you think
this location is good for homeless, high -need seniors? Our community only learned of this
project on Tues Nov 4 at 10 pm from an RSCA email, and the County Supervisors met in less
than 24 hrs on Nov 5 and APPROVED the project.
This type of conduct doesn't build trust with RWS residents from day one.
Regards
Vivian Crisman
