From: Vivian Crisman
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: Project Homekey in Redwood Shores
Date: Thursday, November 5, 2020 11:54:56 PM
Dear Councilmembers,
My name is Vivian Crisman, and I'm a resident of Redwood Shores. I'm writing to express my
concern to you about the shocking quick move of the county to purchase the TownePlace
Suites hotel on Twin Dolphin Drive to convert to a shelter/resident for VLI/homeless seniors
and others.
I understand the seriousness of the homeless issue, made all the worse by COVID and the
economic downturn. My question to you as our City Council is why weren't we informed of
this plan by the county and city leaders, why weren't we engaged to have community input so
we can express our questions and concerns? I only learned of this project on Tues Nov 4 at 10
pm from an RSCA email, and the County Supervisors met in less than 24 hrs on Nov 5 and
APPROVED the project.
Needless to say, many of us in the Shores are stunned and increasingly upset about the
disregard of the county ... I don't know whether we should include the City Council in our
dismay about the lack of civic engagement.
Thank you for your response,
Vivian Crisman
