Dear Redwood City, city council,
For as much as, a community, may love its police dept.,
It simply has to be considered, as part of good community practices, that whenever a police
dept. is in question - it is important to consider, the ideas & needs of impartiality.
There are simply, good standards & decent practices, that elected officials & everyday people,
have an important, last word, in the community decision-making process.
As we are reassuring ourselves, at this time, in the love, the respect, and the experience, a
local police department, can bring to matters, of a community.
This should also allow us, to begin to better consider, how the word, re -imagine, can be used.
As part of its intentions, is to address, the overall future, of the u.s. prison/military industrial
complex. Along with, its technology, surveillance, and data collection.
These are ideas, thoughts, and concepts, that most can agree, can be very interesting, to think
about.
The recent, Fremont SRO task force process, began with, preconceived ideas, to be law
enforcement led. And has learned, how to make adjustments, to create, a more community led,
Task Force process.
This is more true, to the spirit of health & human services ideals. And that, can now utilize,
the experience of police officers & law enforcement, just as well, in a helpful & supportive,
advisory role.
This process, simply now has, a better feeling, in how to be more clear, in the search, of what
can be, more humanistic, peaceful ideas.
I ask Redwood City city council, to please consider, our better practices, as local government
& local communities.
