Dear Mayor Howard, I am writing on behalf of Green Foothills, Redwood City Neighbors United, Save The Bay, and Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter to suggest one critical inclusion to Redwood City's latest Climate Action Plan update for 2030. We are pleased to see a call for climate adaptation planning in the most recent draft CAP provided by City staff, and look forward to the CAP's adoption on Nov. 17. We feel it is extremely important to identify clear first steps to advance the City's adaptation work, and strongly urge the Council to include the following specific and measurable goal under "Getting it Done" (p. 65): "Initiate a Climate Change Adaptation Policy in 2021- The City Council will consider and adopt a policy outlining procedural steps for conducting a vulnerability assessment and developing a multi- year SLR and adaptation implementation plan, to be referenced in the Safety Element of the City's General Plan."
