From: Maryann Tekverk
To: Council -Diane Howard; GRP -City Clerk; MGR -Melissa Stevenson Diaz
Cc: RCNU Steering Committee; Alice Kaufman; Jennifer Chang Hetterly; Gita Dev
Subject: CAP 2030 adaptation language request
Date: Friday, November 13, 2020 1:16:02 PM
Attachments: imaae001.ona
CAP 2030 adaptation language request GF,RCNU,STl3,SC-LP.pdf
CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when
opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Dear Mayor Howard,
I am writing on behalf of Green Foothills, Redwood City Neighbors United, Save The Bay, and Sierra
Club Loma Prieta Chapter to suggest one critical inclusion to Redwood City's latest Climate Action
Plan update for 2030.
We are pleased to see a call for climate adaptation planning in the most recent draft CAP provided
by City staff, and look forward to the CAP's adoption on Nov. 17. We feel it is extremely important to
identify clear first steps to advance the City's adaptation work, and strongly urge the Council to
include the following specific and measurable goal under "Getting it Done" (p. 65):
"Initiate a Climate Change Adaptation Policy in 2021- The City Council will consider and adopt a
policy outlining procedural steps for conducting a vulnerability assessment and developing a multi-
year SLR and adaptation implementation plan, to be referenced in the Safety Element of the City's
General Plan."
Please see our attached letter detailing this request.
Thank you for your consideration,
Maryann Tekverk on behalf of Green Foothills, Redwood City Neighbors United, Save The Bay, and
Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter
Maryann Tekverk
Political & Community Organizer, Save The Bay
Pronouns: she, her
mtekverk(@savesfbay.org
www.saveSFbay.org I C@saveSFbay
A Healthy and Resilient Bay for Everyone
Give today, protect the future.
