The Division is currently using two diesel operated 2008 Ford F350 <br />Supercab trucks, which have reached the end of their useful life. <br />ANALYSIS <br />When researching new equipment, staff is continuously seeking ways to embrace new technologies that <br />reduce the City's carbon footprint while allowing the City to continue providing high-quality services to <br />residents. Staff conducted market research to identify replacement vehicles that would achieve these <br />goals. There are no electric or alternative fuel -powered vehicles available within the desired vehicle class <br />to meet the operational demand. The 2021 Ford F350 Supercab was determined to meet the Division's <br />needs and is available with a gasoline -powered engine instead of the diesel engines currently in use. The <br />cranes mounted will be electric -powered, utilizing inverters that eliminate the need to run the engine or <br />a portable generator while in use. Additionally, all other equipment installed on these vehicles will also <br />be electrically powered, further reducing overall emissions. <br />On September 25, 2020, staff released a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids, the bid submission period closed on <br />October 23, 2020, with three bids received. To allow for any delays in mail delivery caused by the current <br />coronavirus pandemic, the bid opening was scheduled for October 28, 2020. <br />The bids received are summarized below: <br />Staff recommends awarding the bid to Towne Ford Sales as they are the lowest responsive and responsible <br />bidder. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds of $225,621 are available in the FY 2020/21 Equipment Replacement Fund.
