STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE Excellence in Government Operations BACKGROUND Redwood City's (City) Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and equipment to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre -designated intervals, vehicles, and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation of factors such as age, mileage, condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage, and vehicle capabilities. Through this process, staff has identified a 2008 Ford F750 Dump Truck (2008 Dump Truck) in the City's Fleet that has reached the end of its useful life, as it requires repairs that will cost more than its current value. On October 14, 2019, staff issued a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids (2019 NIB) to purchase one new 2020 Freightliner dump truck. This NIB was intended to replace a 2002 Ford F750 Dump Truck that had also reached the end of its useful life cycle. On December 16, 2019, at staff's recommendation, the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement to purchase one new 2020 Freightliner dump truck for $143,336 from Golden Gate Truck Center (GGTC) of Oakland, CA.
