6.J. - Page 1 of 15 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: November 23, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Amend the City's Classification and Wage and Salary Plan to update salary ranges to incorporate a 2020 <br />cost of living adjustment as provided in the September 1, 2018 through August 29, 2021 Police Officers' <br />Association Memorandum of Understanding <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution amending the City's Classification and Wage and Salary Plan to update the salary ranges <br />for classifications in the Police Officers' Association. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City strives to maintain a compensation structure that provides salaries and benefits that are <br />competitive within the labor market to attract and retain highly qualified employees. When evaluating <br />compensation, adjustments are typically made with consideration given to employee performance, cost <br />of living increases provided to other city employees, total compensation relative to the City's survey <br />market of benchmark cities, internal pay equity, and the current financial conditions of the City. <br />On November 5, 2018, the City Council approved a tentative agreement relative to wages, hours, and <br />other terms and conditions of employment for employees in the Police Officers Association (POA) for the <br />period September 1, 2018 through August 29, 2021.
