6.D. - Page 1 of 12 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: January 11, 2021 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Extension of temporary street closures through December 31, 2021 to allow for outdoor business activity <br />programs during the COVID-19 emergency <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing the extension of the temporary closure of City streets to allow for outdoor <br />dining and business activity during the Covid-19 emergency, seven days a week, until December 31, 2021. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Economic Vitality <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 6, 2020, San Mateo County's Shelter in Place (SIP) order to address the COVIDI9 pandemic was <br />revised and San Mateo County Order No. c19 -5f allowed "outdoor dining" in cities in the County. The <br />City's Director of Emergency Services (City Manager) consequently issued a Proclamation on June 15, 2020 <br />allowing expanded outdoor restaurant dining citywide on private property and in the public right-of-way <br />to address the serious economic impacts COVID 19 has created for restaurants. <br />A task force comprised of the City's economic development partners (the Chamber of Commerce, the <br />Downtown Business Group (DBG), the Redwood City Improvement Association (RCIA) and RCIA's <br />consultant, New City America, developed the City's temporary outdoor dining program.
