PART 5 - COMMENCEMENT AND COMPLETION OF WORK <br />A. Contractor shall commence work on the date established in the Notice to Proceed <br />(Attachment 2) <br />B. Contractor shall achieve Substantial Completion of the entire Work within ninety <br />(90) Days from the Commencement Date. <br />PART 6- PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE <br />A. In the pre -construction conference the City will designate its Project Manager to <br />act as City's representative in all matters relating to the Contract Documents. <br />B. In the pre -construction conference Contractor will designate its Project Manager <br />to act as Contractor's representative in all matters relating to the Contract <br />Documents. <br />PART 7 — EXISTING UTILITIES, EXCAVATION, AND TRENCHING. <br />A. Existing Utilities. As required by Government Code Section 4215, if, during the <br />performance of the Work, Contractor discovers utility facilities not identified by City <br />in the Contract Documents, Contractor must immediately provide written notice to <br />City and the utility. City assumes responsibility for the timely removal, relocation, <br />or protection of existing main or trunk line utility facilities located on the Project site <br />if those utilities are not identified in the Contract Documents. Contractor will be <br />compensated in accordance with the provisions of the Contract Documents for the <br />costs of locating, repairing damage not due to Contractor's failure to exercise <br />reasonable care, and removing or relocating utility facilities not indicated in the <br />Drawings or Specifications with reasonable accuracy, and for equipment on the <br />Project necessarily idled during such work. Contractor will not be assessed <br />liquidated damages for delay in completion of the Work, to the extent the delay <br />was caused by City's failure to provide for removal or relocation of the utility <br />facilities. <br />B. Notice of Excavation. Government Code Section 4216.2 requires that, except in <br />an emergency, Contractor must contact the appropriate regional notification <br />center, or Underground Services Alert ("USA") at 800-642-2444 (for Northern <br />California), at least two (2) working days but not more than fourteen (14) calendar <br />days before starting any excavation if the excavation will be conducted in an area <br />that is known, or reasonably should be known, to contain subsurface installations, <br />and, if practical, Contractor must delineate with white paint or other suitable <br />markings the area to be excavated. Contractor is required to contact USA before <br />beginning Work on the Project, and take appropriate measures to avoid damaging <br />or obstructing access to subsurface installations. <br />C. Trenching and Excavations of Four Feet or More.
