The Block D
change meant that 150,000 square feet of this project were changed from office
space to housing. This project still has 1.25 million square feet of office space
planned. So this current change represents a little more than 10% of the original
space being converted to housing. I understand there has been investigation on the
balance between offices and housing in project feasibility, and I encourage the
Council to be bold in pushing as far as is reasonable in support of affordable housing.
Finally, I know that some of my neighbors will be primarily concerned with the
aesthetic impacts of taller buildings. I live three blocks from the proposed
development and I am in support of heights within the DTPP that allow Redwood City
to house more residents more affordably.
Kate Hiester
she, her, hers
