Exercise caution when <br />opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. <br />Dear Madam Mayor: <br />We are reaching out to share our support for the Sequoia Station <br />redevelopment, which we understand will be discussed further at the <br />February 8 council meeting. We want to emphasize how important the <br />dedication of land included in Lowe's proposal is to Caltrain and transit <br />needs and opportunities in Redwood City. The land dedication is a <br />critical step that enables the long term build out of the Caltrain system <br />by creating necessary space that will accommodate both the <br />development of a new "hub" station in Downtown Redwood City as <br />well the grade separation of the rail corridor through the downtown. <br />Preserving space for future station expansion and grade separations will <br />also provide the certainty needed to allow Caltrain, SamTrans and the <br />City to advance orderly and detailed planning of the future station and <br />associated transit and access facilities including bus facilities, bike and <br />pedestrian connections and parking. <br />In 2019, after years of work and community outreach, Caltrain's Board - <br />adopted a 2040 Service Vision that calls for the expansion of rail service <br />along the corridor. This Vision is centered around a four -track mid - <br />peninsula station that allows for transfers between express and local <br />trains. Because of its supportive land uses, densities and potential <br />future Dumbarton connection, Caltrain staff strongly believes that <br />Downtown Redwood City is best suited for this proposed new hub.
