From: Kristin Forbes
To: GRP -City Council; MGR -Melissa Stevenson Diaz
Subject: Opposed! Sequoia Station - Proposed Development
Date: Wednesday, February 3, 20218:32:32 PM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when
opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Dear City Council and City Manager Redwood City,
I am appalled by the proposed 6 separate blocks of development at the Sequoia Station
location, potentially up to 12 stories or 132 ft high.
Redwood City does NOT need this project which proposes 1.25 million square feet of office
space potentially up to 6,250 new office with
workers clogging our city streets especially in an already very busy area, high traffic area. On
top the that you intend to allow 475-640 NEW
housing units as part of this project making the traffic and congestion in this area 100 -fold
worse. You are fantasizing if you think these
office workers will live in the "on-site" housing or in other apartments in the downtown area.
People still (at least as of now have a right to
choose where they live and that is often NOT in the same community where they work.
To think that this proposed new housing is once again APARTMENTS that gives people NO,
ZERO, NADA opportunity to build equity and
increase their wealth and participate in the American dream like the majority of all of you who
do own home is ludicrous and outrageous.
This development's proposed housing units comes on the heels of all the recent (and still to
be built) apartment housing that now plagues downtown
Redwood City and the EI Camino Real. There have been/will be something like 8 -10 new
housing complexes built within the downtown/EI Camino
corridor in the past 6- 8 years and most of it is UGLY, architecturally uninspiring, and cheaply
built and will, within 20 years look like what it
really is .... overpriced tenement housing devoid of green open space as every building is built
right to the edge of the sidewalks!
The Council and City's collective leadership in approval of all these apartment housing
complexes appalling. You sold out to developers.
What have these developers added to the City's value in terms of services to the residents;
nothing. We have NO additional police, in case
you have not noticed... crime is up! Thefts are reported practically EVERYDAY on social media
such as Nextdoor
There is No additional fire protection, in fact you wanted to eliminate one of the existing
