James O’Connell
Red Morton Community Park Regional Stormwater Capture Project, Redwood City, CA – Phase 2A
8 June 14, 2021
funding agency. Given the size of the project, the effort will focus on funding opportunities that are $10 Million
or greater.
A successful and competitive grant application is derived from constant and consistent collaboration between
the grant writing team and the agency. The Team routinely creates grant applications employing the following
approach:
Task 7.1 – Grant Application Kick-off Meeting
We will conduct a kick-off meeting to review and understand the City’s current project scope, proposed budget,
available local funds, project schedule, Department objectives, milestones, and other considerations that may be
pertinent to the project “story” for each grant application. We will also review the grant application requirements
and submittal deadlines and will present an internal schedule for the City’s review. The schedule will identify
intermediate and ultimate tasks and milestone dates of completion in order to provide the City with ample review
and submittal time. Furthermore, the schedule will define roles and responsibilities associated with each task for
the project team. Clear and defined roles, responsibilities, tasks, and schedule milestones will ensure that the
grant application can be submitted on-time. Meeting notes summarizing the discussion and agreed upon schedule
will be provided to the Department following the meeting.
Task 7.2 – Generate Grant Application Data Request
We will prepare a data request that summarizes the grant application(s) needs that will be utilized to generate a
draft grant application package. Information requests typically include: project scope details, schedule details,
budget information (existing or proposed), local funding (if available), and other resources that may be used to
supplement the application. We will utilize the initial grant competitiveness findings and recommendations that
were provided in Task 3 as a basis for generating the data request and the draft grant application material.
We are well-versed in communicating and corresponding with the community and related project stakeholders
and are prepared to coordinate requests for Letters of Support and collaborate with the City to conduct other
community and stakeholder coordination as necessary to generate the most competitive application for the
Department. We will track all data received and will compile information for inclusion in the grant application(s)
as necessary.
Deliverables:
Grant Application Data Request
Task 7.3 – Generate DRAFT Grant Application & Recommendations (OPTIONAL)
We will prepare a draft grant application for Department review. Grant applications typically include a project
narrative, project cost estimate and budget detail, project maps and exhibits, and other grant-specific
information to completely respond to the grant application guidelines. We will provide up to two draft grant
applications in compliance with the applicable grant program guidelines for the City’s review and will include
recommendations for areas where competitiveness could be enhanced by revising project budget, scope,
schedule, or other items that may be relevant to the scoring criteria. This task will include review of the PDCR
and identification of design elements that may enhance the project’s applicability to the identified grant funding
source objectives and scoring criteria. The included fee is a budgetary allocation and subject to change based on
the grant program applied for.
ATTY/AGR.2021/Amend No. 1/Craftwater Inc (Page 11 of 16)
