James O’Connell
Red Morton Community Park Regional Stormwater Capture Project, Redwood City, CA – Phase 2A
10 June 14, 2021
Task 9 Sewer Outflow Design (OPTIONAL)
This optional task is being proposed to explore the possibility of outflowing a portion of the treated stormwater
to the existing 21” sanitary sewer in Roosevelt Ave. An outflow to the sanitary sewer was not included in the
original concept design and requires additional design and survey effort.
9.1 Survey
The survey limits will be expanded to include the parking lot on the east side of the park property and portions
of Roosevelt Ave. See Attached Figure.
The topographic survey will be comprised of a ground survey and aerial photogrammetry. The photogrammetry
information obtained as part of the original project boundary flight also included the expanded survey area,
therefore additional aerial survey is not required. However, processing of the information into CAD will be
required and is included in this scope.
One additional day of topographic ground survey and detailed investigations of the site will be performed to
allow the design team to understand above ground and potentially subsurface constraints that may limit the
sewer pipe route. These items may include, but are not limited to, tree canopies, above ground infrastructure,
storm drain invert elevations, street centerlines, sidewalks and existing utilities, fences, and park amenities.
Field survey will include invert elevation, pipe diameter and direction of flow for underground utilities, tree
trunk location and size, fences, and surface characteristics, hardscapes, vegetation, and above ground
structures.
The AutoCAD topographic map provided as part of the concept study phase, will be expanded to include this
new area. The survey will be used as a base map for the development of the Preliminary Design Documents and
the future detailed design phase. We will review the record utility information received to date for the project
and reach out to utility companies for additional information as needed. Utility as-builts will be incorporated
horizontally and vertically into the CAD base map.
Deliverable:
Expanded Topographic base map in AutoCAD.
9.2 Design
We will show the proposed sanitary sewer outflow pipe on 3 additional sheets. We will show the impacts to the
parking lot and roadway that the pipe will have and show the proposed pipe profile. We will develop the plans
to the 30% overall level. Outline specifications and cost estimates will be prepared. These additional sheets will
be added to the rest of the 30% design plans and be included in the sheet numbers and index. The title block
and formatting will be consistent with the remainder of the plan set.
Deliverable:
Additional sheets to be incorporated into 30% Design plan set.
9.3 Sanitation District Meetings
Engaging with the local Sanitation District is crucial to the success of this project. Craftwater will prepare meeting
documents and attend up to 2 meetings. For the sake of cost saving, we anticipate these meetings will be virtual.
It is assumed that the meetings will be set up by the City’s Project Manager.
ATTY/AGR.2021/Amend No. 1/Craftwater Inc (Page 13 of 16)
