Additionally, construction noise also results from
machinery and equipment used in the process of constructing the new housing
facility. There is a possibility that the project may expose persons to or generate
noise levels in excess of standards established in a local general plan or noise
ordinance or other applicable standards of other agencies. (IS/MND Impact 11-
a, pp. 3-58, 3-69, 3-60).

Potential Impact 11-d: Construction activities have the potential to
exceed Redwood City's exterior noise standard of 60 dBA within about 1,500 feet
of construction activity. There is a potentially significant impact from construction
noise to people residing or recreating in the project vicinity. Project construction
would result in a temporary increase in ambient noise levels. (IS/MND Impact
11-d, p, 3-61).

Mitigation Measure N-1: The following noise-control measures would be
included in the construction contract specifications to reduce and control noise
generated from construction, demolition, and renovation-related activities.

. The normal working day for construction activities will be between 7 am
and 7 pm on weekdays.

. Construction equipment will have appropriate mufflers, intake silencers,
and noise-control features, and would be properly maintained and
equipped with exhaust mufflers that meet state standards.

. Vehicles and other gas- or diesel-powered equipment will be prohibited
from unnecessary warming up, idling, and engine revving.

. A sign will be posted at the construction site giving the name and
telephone number or e-mail address of the District staff member whom the
public should contact with any noise complaints. This information will also
be available on the District website. If necessary due to complaints, the
construction contractor will provide noise-attenuating measures such as
additional mufflers or engine shrouding. Because there are not residents
adjacent to the project site, the topography provides a noise buffer, and
the project site would be de-annexed from Woodside and incorporated
into Redwood City. (MMRP Mitigation N-1).

Finding: The higher elevation of the project site and the surrounding
wooded hillside would provide a noise buffer, which would reduce the
construction noise impacts of both 11-a and 11-d. These potential impacts would
be further reduced to a less-than significant fevel with implementation of
Mitigation Measure N-1.

G. TRANSPORTATION AND TRAFFIC

1. Impacts on Transportation and Traffic

Potential Impact 15-a and 15-b: Construction and operation of the
proposed project would generate additional traffic on regional and local
