<br />6.3A <br />Page 25 <br /> <br />2. Employees will also be made aware of public access restrictions and <br />the importance of closing and locking gates to maintain the integrity of <br />public access restrictions. <br />3. Employees will be educated concerning the potential presence of <br />Animal Damage Control personnel and equipment. <br />4. Employees will be educated concerning the buffer area and wetland <br />mitigation areas as well as outboard wetland habitats. <br />5. Employees will be educated concerning seasonal and tidal timing <br />restrictions of maintenance activities. <br /> <br />XII. Safety Precautions <br /> <br />Personnel working at or on any portion of the levees, channel, and/or <br />appurtenance shall at all times take all possible measures to ensure their <br />safety. Specifically, all personnel shall observe the following: <br />1. All work form highway bridges shall be done by two or more persons <br />with all necessary caution lights and/or flags placed to provide <br />sufficient warning to traffic. <br />2. Determine and observe all precautions in the use of any chemicals. <br />3. All work on any structure or appurtenance shall be done with <br />necessary safely devices; Le., ropes, cables, ladders, safety harness. <br />4. Measurement by wading any stream flow shall not be performed when <br />the product of velocity (feet per second) and depth (feet) exceeds a <br />factor of 6. <br />5. All debris removal from flood control structures during flood stage shall <br />be performed with assistance of at least one other person. Crane <br />service should be summoned for all heavy lifting. <br />6. All burning shall be done with equipment and personnel adequate to <br />control the fire, and only on calm days, in accordance with air pollution <br />control regulations. <br />7. Proper instructions and training shall precede the operation of all <br />equipment. Tailgate instructional programs shall be conducted as a <br />routine and permanent part of the staff training program. <br /> <br />XIII. Laaoon. Storm Pump Stations. and DewaterinQ Structures <br /> <br />Maintenance and operation of the lagoon, storm pump stations, and dewatering <br />structures shall be in accordance with the latest version of the City of Redwood <br />Citv Redwood Shores Laqoon Maintenance Plan. Dewatering Structure Asset <br />Plan, Storm Drain Cleaninq Proqram. <br /> <br />XIV. Discussion of Vertical Datums <br /> <br />The two standard vertical datums in use nationwide are the National Geodetic <br />Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29) and the North American Vertical Datum of <br />1988 (NAVD88). <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />April 2008 <br />
