RECOMMENDATIOiV Approve, by motion, the contract documents and award the contract for the Redwood City Recycled Water Projec# — Phase I — Seaport Distribution System — Bid Pac�cage 7 (Bike Path, East Bayshore Road, Map{e Street, Blomquist Street, and Seaport Boulevard) Praject to the towes# responsibte bidder, Shaw Pipeline {nc, of San Francisco for their low bid of$2,062,250.00. and authorize the Ci#y Manager to in�rease #he contract amaunt up to 10% if necessary. BACKGROUND 1n Augusi 2003, the Ci#y Council approved a broadly defined, flexible r�cycled wrater project, filed a Califomia Environmental Quality Act Notice of Determina#ion, and farmed a citizen community task force to provide input on the implementation of the project. Irr March 2004, the City Council accepted the Task Force Report and directed staff to return with racommended action to implement. The Redwaod City Recycied Water Praject wili be implemented in phases and smaller, discrete prajects over the next several years, beginning with some recycied water delivery in the 2007 irrigation season. The major components of the Project are as foflows. 1. Treatment imarovements consisfing of fil#er moc��cations, chemical feed addition and frltered water line at the SBSA site — awned and aperated by South Bayside Sys#em Authority(SBSA), Status: 1�0°� complete and in service. 2. Disinfection facilitv consisting of new chlorine contact chambers at #he SBSA site — owned by the City and operated by SBSA. Status: 100% complete and in service. 3. Storage and pum�ing facilities located within the SBSA plant property (includes a back-up supply iine far potable water)—owned and aperated by fhe Cify. Status: 100% complete and in service. 4. Distributi�n svstem consisting ofi new transmission pipelines throughout the water service area, in street rights-of-ways—owned and apera#ed by the Cify. S#atus: Bid Packages 1, 2 and 3 are 10�°� constructed. Bid Packages 4 and 5 are each 9�°!o completed. Construction started on Bid Package 6 last manth. Bid Packages 8, and 9 will be avai[able far bidding wi#hin the next few months.
