<br />3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Barbara Pierce, Council Member <br /> <br />4. INVOCATION - Chaplain Dennis Logie, Redwood City Police Department <br /> <br />Mayor Foust announced that the City Council Meetings for the month of April will take place <br />at the San Mateo County Chambers because of the City Council Chambers retrofit. <br /> <br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS: <br /> <br />A. Proclamation: Traveling Story Time Program - Rudy Madrigal, President of the <br />Library Board of Trustees, Traveling Story Time Program Director <br />Jan Pedden, and JoAnne Wetzel, former Director of the Traveling <br />Story Time Program. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust read and presented the proclamation to the recipients present. JoAnne <br />Wetzel illustrated the benefits of reading to children and Ms. Pedden thanked the <br />Council for recognizing this particular volunteer program. She encouraged the <br />community to volunteer since the program is growing exponentially. Mr. Madrigal, <br />Library Board President, thanked the volunteers and the City Council for its continued <br />support. <br /> <br />B. Presentation: Public Works Services Department - Director of Public Works <br />Services Larry Barwacz. <br /> <br />Mr. Barwacz shared a video that illustrates the role of the Public Works Department <br />(presentation on file). Council was appreciative of this information. The graffiti program <br />was discussed in detail and staff provided details on how it works. Council was <br />appreciative of the breath and depth of this department's role within the organization. <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR - CITY COUNCIL. <br /> <br />Dan Fillin announced that he had received a grant and he is looking to identify 10 <br />community leaders to take classes on how to be in positions of leadership within the <br />community. <br /> <br />Lou Covey, representing a new group in Redwood City called Citizens for a Sustainable <br />Redwood City, expressed his support for the Parks for the Future ballot measure on the <br />agenda. He referred people to his website at www.sustainablerc.com for additional <br />information. <br /> <br />MOTION: waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, adopt <br />the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. <br /> <br />M/S Howard/Hartnett to waive the reading of the Consent Calendar except the <br />ordinances by title, adopt the resolutions, and the ordinances and approve the Consent <br />Calendar with the exception of item 6.1 C. <br /> <br />JOINT CITY COUNCIL/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARD MEETING <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />MARCH 24, 2008 <br />PAGE 2 <br />
