Councilmember Pierce, a member ofthe General Plan Committee, also
participated. The audit demonstrated the difficulty pedestrians have in using some
crosswalks, pedestrian crossing buttons, handicapped ramps, and medians. The walk
was very eye..opening and informative for staff from all departments. The consultants
will write up their findings and recommendations, and then staff will consider weaving
them into the new General Plan as appropriate.

The General Plan Committee also met on June 25. The Committee is made up of three
City Council members (Honorable Mayor Foust, and Council members Howard and Pierce)
and two Planning Commissioners (Chair Cronin and Planning Commissioner Seybert). The
Committee provided valuable insight and direction on the proposed fact sheet and overall
format of the document.

Schedule
Given the clear direction by the City Council, staff is making every effort to complete the
General Plan on schedule (by Fall 2009). Staff did not meet all of the scheduled tasks due a
number of unanticipated challenges such as the need for more critical data for the consultants,
but plans to catch up in a couple of months. Attached is summary of the schedule.

~~~
Tom Passanisi
Principal Planner
ChU~~Y
Acting Community Development Director
ATTACHMENTS
General Plan Work Product Status
RELATED DOCUMENTS IN CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
None
