<br />88 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, CALlFORNI~ CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE <br />FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION ON TUESDAY, <br />NOVEMBER 4, 2008, FOR THE SUBMISSION OF PROPOSED <br />CHARTER AMENDMENTS, SETTING THE BALLOT <br />QUESTIONS, SETTING THE CALENDAR FOR BALLOT <br />ARGUMENTS, DIRECTING THE FULL TEXT OF AMENDMENTS <br />TO BE INCLUDED IN BALLOT PAMPHLET, DIRECTING CITY <br />COUNCIL TO DRAFT BALLOT ARGUMENTS, AND DIRECTING <br />THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority of Section 4 of the Charter of the <br />City of Redwood City, Section 3 of Article XI of the Constitution and Title 4, <br />Division 2, Chapter 3 of the Government Code and Division 9. Chapter 3, Article <br />3 (commencing at section 9255), of the Elections Code of the State of California, <br />a petition has been filed with the legislative body of the City of Redwood City, <br />signed by more than fifteen percent of the registered voters of the city according <br />to the County Election Department's last official report of registration to the <br />Secretary of State to submit a proposed charter amendment to the voters (the <br />"Two -Thirds Vote Amendment") ; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Clerk, with the assistance of the San Mateo County <br />Chief Elections Officer, has examined the records of registration and ascertained <br />that the petition is signed by the requisite number of voters, and has so certified; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has submitted to the voters the question <br />relating to a City Council sponsored measure proposing to amend Redwood <br />City's Charter to require majority voter approval of future land uses other than <br />agriculture. public parks. certain extractions from San Francisco Bay, or restored <br />wetlands on Cargill lands (the "Majority Vote Amendment"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is authorized and directed by statute to <br />submit the proposed charter amendments to the voters; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That pursuant to Article XI of the Constitution and Title 4, <br />Division 2, Chapter 3 of the Government Code and Division, Chapter 3, Article 3 <br />(commencing at section 9255) of the Elections Code of the State of California, <br />there is called and ordered to be held to be in the City of Redwood City, <br /> <br />A TTY IRESO/RESQ,1830 <br />072408 <br /> <br />1 <br />
