<br />"Shall a Charter Amendment requiring two-thirds voter ratification of legislative <br />acts approving certain land uses in areas of the City designated as "Park", <br />"Unimproved Areas (Land or Water)", "Future Development Expanding Limits of <br />Urbanization", "Controlled Waterways (Redwood Shores Area)", or "San <br />Francisco Bay Water" in the General Plan or designated as "Tidal Plain" or <br />"Redwood Shores Bay Front" in the Zoning Code, with exemptions for housing <br />obligations, takings and vested rights, be adopted?" <br /> <br />7A <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />With respect to the election calendar, the San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer has <br />determined the relevant dates for the November 4, 2008 election as follows: <br /> <br />August 8,2008: last day to call election and submit request for consolidation <br />with the County of San Mateo. <br /> <br />August 15. 2008: Primary arguments for/against proposed Charter <br />amendments to be submitted (300 word limit). <br /> <br />August 25, 2008: Rebuttal arguments for/against proposed Charter <br />amendments are to be submitted (250 word limit); City <br />Attorney impartial analyses are due (500 word limit). <br />September 4, 2008: Ten (10 day inspection period. <br /> <br />In addition, City Council has the right to author the argument against the Two-Thirds <br />Vote Approval Charter amendment and in support of any City Council sponsored <br />measu re. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The County of San Mateo Chief Elections Officer has estimated the cost of a special <br />election in November 2008 would be approximately $5,000.
