The <br /> �iggest accomplishment�uring this period was by far the New General Plan Community <br /> Forum which was held on Saturday, September 27 (see belaw}. In August and most of <br /> September, staff:and tfie General Plan consultants worked diligently to prepare for this <br /> workshop.This preparation work inciuded many working meetin�s with Planning staff and <br /> cansultants to develop land use attematives which were presented at the event, and the <br /> distribution of Generai Plan flyers and cards at various community functions such as the <br /> Farmer's Market, Fair Qaks Festivai, and other City sponsored events. <br /> A joint study session of the City Council and Housing and Human Concems Committee <br /> {HFlC�} foliawed by a second joint session of the Planning Commission {P�) and the <br /> HHCC were he{d to discuss the Housing Elemen# and the possibitity af an inc4usionary <br /> housing policy. On 4ctaber 6 staff also held a community warkshop with the Redwood <br /> Oaks neighborhood to review some of the land use concepts for the We�dside Road and <br /> EI Camino Reai corridors which flank ttte neighborhood. On October 7 staff also presented <br /> to the Planning Commission and HHCC a "vi�tual tour" of the New General Pl�n <br /> Community Forum including boards and exhibits. This presentation pravided an <br /> opportunity#or thc�se who were not able to attend the Comm�anifiy Farum to comment on <br /> the exhibits. Finally, staff continued to review General Plan technical reports which will <br /> serve as the context for the various General Ptan Etements. <br /> • New General Plan Communify Forum—This worlcshop was the largest single outreach <br /> community event planned for the New General Plan.The purpose af#he warkshop was <br /> to initiate pubtic dialogue on various General Plan concepts and ideas, such as transit <br /> corridars, neighborhoods, B�yfront land use altema#ives and ather tvpi�s such as <br /> sustainability and mobility. S#aff and consultants were present to explain and discuss <br /> these ideas with the purpase of soliciting public commen#s. The woricshap was very <br /> successful as almos#300 individuals participated and provided comments. Staff plans <br /> to theme and aggrega#e these comments and consider th�m in the preparation of the <br /> New General Plan. The comments will also be put on the General Plan web site. <br /> Fatlow-up work from this forum includes a recent presentation to the Chamber <br /> Economic Committee and a .loint Study Session of the PC and MhiCC. An on-line <br /> survey wi11 be made available after the comments are recorded. <br />
