7A <br /> Pag� � <br /> • Public Outreach — A concerted effort to attract residents to the General Plan <br /> Community Farum praved effective. A "save the date card"was sent to all Redwaod <br /> City households announcing the New Genera! Plan event. The document was also <br /> distribut�d�t numerous fairs ar�d city events such�s the Farme�'s#1A�rket, Mu�ic in th� <br /> Park concerts, Fair Oaks Festival, the Sa1sa Festivai, and other events. Severai <br /> members of the Plar►ning Commission and the General Plan Committee pa�ticipated in <br /> this outreach. A presentation on the New General Ptan was also made to the Chamber <br /> of Commerce Econornic Committee. 1n totaf, three direct mailings annauncing #he <br /> workshap were sent to every hausehold in Redwood City including the fact shee# (a <br /> newsfetter format), a feature in the new Community Nates newsietter, and a remindsr <br /> ca�d. A#u11 page ad afso ran in the most recent Spectrum issue. <br /> • Land Use Attemafiues — Planning Staff and the General Plan consultants worked to <br /> refrne various land use altema#ives that were presented to the public a#the workshop. <br /> These land use a�tematives included transit corridors(EI Camino and Woodside Road); <br /> BroadwayNeterans; and the Bayfront. <br /> • Joint Study Sessions—�n August 25`"#he City Council and HHCC hefd a joint study <br /> session and heard presen�ations from vanous guest speakers on#he regional housing <br /> context and then discussed a possible interim inclusionary housing poiicy. Council <br /> directed staff to#urther investigate a"balanced and ffexible"policywith the HHCC and <br /> PC to make sure that the policy woutd produce ht�using uni�s and not�rohibit them. A <br /> s�b�equent study s�s�ion was then heid on September 9 with the HHCC and PC tn <br /> discuss existing hausing pragrams and policies, status af the New Housing Eiement <br /> and examined in de#ail feature�of an inclusion�ry housing policy. On October fi, staff <br /> attended a workshop in Redwood Oaks neighbofiood to discuss various land use <br /> aftematives. C7n October 7, a joint study session af the PC anci HNCC was heid to <br /> review exhibits from the New General Plan Community Fc�rum and to solicit comments. <br /> �taff afso in#ends #o bring this discussion to othe� neighborhood organizatians and <br /> other Boards, Commissions and Committees such as the Senior Affairs Commission. <br /> • General Plan Technical Reports--St�ff has been reviewing approximately ten technical <br /> re�rts prepared by#he consuftant i�ased on Ciiy input. These reports will serve as <br /> c�ntextua! �i�ckgr�und ta the varicws Elements af the New General P{an. <br /> • On-going—Staff wiU be preparing notes and summaries from the Cammunity Forum <br /> and will make them available to the public on the City's web site. Staff aiso plans to <br /> hold #uture meetings with #he Boards, Committees, and Commissions aver Fal1 and <br /> Winler, place background reports, workshop summaries, upcoming meetings and an <br /> on-line survey on the City's web site; and complete other activities to keep the public <br /> engag�i in the process. <br /> Schedu[e <br /> Given the clear direction by the Ci#y Cauncil, staff is making every effort to complete the <br /> General Ptan on schedu(e(by Falf 20Q9). !n order ta maintain this schedute, Fall 24Q8 will <br /> be very busy with more study sessions and document preparat�on fo�lowing the September <br /> 27 workshop. <br />
