Of these <br /> recommendations, particular to public art are the goals of integrafing aesthetic <br /> qualities into city planning, promoting the appreciation and involvement of creative <br /> arts by citizens, providing opportunit;es for lacal afists, and developing and <br /> sfrengthening programs. Moreover, the Cultural Element proposes tha# the City <br /> seek out ways to add public art in the community. The CCC also brought�orward a <br /> concept paper on Public Art to City Council on September 27, 2007. (Attachment 2) <br /> City Councii support of the Pubiic Art Program led the CCC #o establish a Public Art <br /> Task Force. Over the past ysar, that Task Force has developed a draft strategic <br /> plan far public art in Redwood City, set up draft criteria for public art ar�d the <br /> selection of sites in the City, and a ptan for how to involve the communifiy and <br /> decision making bodies. The Commission reached consensus with the <br /> recommendations embodied in the draft documents, Public Art Process and Si#e <br /> Selec�ion Criteria, (Attachments 3 -4} and requested a Joint Study Session with City <br /> Councii to �eceive feedback and direction on Pubtic Art. <br /> The Cammissia�i further agreed that the goals of the Joint Study Session are: <br /> A successful study session wouid include: <br /> 1. Open communicatian <br /> 2. Everyone's ideas, concerns, and faedback are heard <br /> 3. Some direction is provided/received <br /> 4. Avenues are identified for future progress <br /> The Commission would Eike ta receive input from the Council regarding the <br /> Commission's: <br /> 1.
