Pubfic art projects covered by this policy for which <br /> pubiic money is utilized may be locafed on either public or private praperty. For a pubiic <br /> art project to be located on private property, the owner must grant the city ar� easement <br /> for access, with a grant of ati anciliary rights that the city deems necessary in order to <br /> implement#he pub4ic art project acxo�ing to this policy. Identiftcation o#a piece of <br /> property as a public a�t site shall not retieve the prapetty owner from complying wlth ail <br /> applicable city laws and regulations. <br /> SITE SELECTiON <br /> The pracess used to select public art sites is dependent upon #he type of project being <br /> executed. <br /> Site selection should be a comrnunity planning pracess which provides ample and <br /> appropriate opportunities for public input into site identification. <br /> The Civic Cuitural Commission will maintain a priorif�zed list of projects and sites and <br /> wilt recommend those projects for imptementation as funding atiows. As much as <br /> possible, these projects should t�rrespond with new construction or renovation projects <br /> planned in #he city for tha#year. <br /> Civic Culturat Commission �epresentatives should be invited to attend architecturai <br /> review meetings for iarge scale development#o advocate for public art as part of new <br /> developme�t or redevetopment. <br /> Community group or neigt�borhood association may propose a public art project far a <br /> site and apply for city funds to implement their projects. <br /> EL{GiBLE PUBLIC ART PROJECTS: <br /> Public art projects may include: <br /> • fihe commissioning o#permanent works designed for specific public sites in <br /> Redwood City <br /> • the loan, purchase or do�ation o#art works deemed appropriate for pubiic sites <br /> • artists contracted to work as integral members of architecturaE, infrastructure, and <br /> urban design teams <br /> • ins#alfations, artist-in-residence programs, and other short-term projects or <br /> planning activities tfiat result in the creation of temporary or permanent public art. <br />
