7B <br /> Page 8 <br /> COMMUNiTY INVOLVEMENT <br /> Each public art project created through this policy shall indude an ouireach program <br /> that will encourage community involvement in the impiementation of the project as well <br /> as periodically inform and educate citizens about the specific project. <br /> ARTIST SELECTlON <br /> Methods used for artist setection may include open competitian, invitational competition, <br /> or direct selection but shall comply witf� alt laws, regulations, and aty poiicies goveming <br /> purchasing. Community involvement in the devetopment of any pubiic art project is <br /> crucial and shall be part of the selection process. For public art projects attached to <br /> private ar public construction, the artist selectian and approval process must be <br /> integrated into the overalt projec#timeiine so as not to cause delays. <br /> ART OWNERSHIP AND COPYRlGHT <br /> In general, atl physical permanen#works of}wblic art are owned by the city and <br /> r�pyrights shall be retained by the artist, with repratuction r�ghts ailowed the city for <br /> appropriate promotional and educaiional purposes. Legal ti�e and copyrights in any <br /> worlc of pub{ic art obtained by the r.ity shali be spelled out in a mutc�ally agreeable <br /> contract between the city, the artist, and the owner. <br /> FUNDING <br /> Funding will fikely dictate whECh projects are implemented. Possible funding sources <br /> incfude: <br /> • Annua! pubiic art funding from the city <br /> • Project based itmd'sng ftam the city <br /> • Adopfion of a percent-for-art program <br /> • Private funding <br /> • County, state, and federal grants <br /> • City fund matching program for public art on private prope�-ty <br /> • Fundraisers and sponsorship o#partict�lar projects <br /> • City fund matching for grants and private cantributions <br /> The Civic Cuttural Commission witl be active in applying for nan-city pubtic and p�ivate <br /> funds to support public art projects as appropriate. Individuals, businesses, private <br /> devetopers, and organiza#ians will atso be encauraged to make contributions to#he city <br /> for pubUc art projec#s. <br /> AI1 funds for public art received by the cify shal! be deposited into the ciiy's "public art <br /> fund° and administered by the Civic Cultural Commission. <br />
