8A <br /> Page 7 <br /> C. Time is of the essence of this Confiract. <br /> SECTION 5—LABOR <br /> A. This contract is subject to the provisions of Part 7 of Division 2 of the Caiifomia Labor Code <br /> (Sections 1720 and foflowing}, and Contractar and any subcontractor sfiall pay not less fhan the specified <br /> prevailing rates af wage to ail workers empioyed in performance of the Work. Pursuant to the pravisEons <br /> of Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State of Califomia,the City Council of the Gity of Redwood Ciry <br /> has abtained the generat prevaiiing rate of wages and employer payments #or health and we!#are, <br /> vacation, pension and similar purposes in the City, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City <br /> Engineer, and shall be made available for viewing to any interested party upon request. <br /> B. Contractor's attention is directed fo the provisions in Section 1777.5 and 1777.6 of the Labor <br /> Code cancerning the empioyment of apprentices by the Contractar or any subcontractor under the <br /> Contractor. 1t shall be the responsibiiity of the Contracfor to effectuate comp�iance on the part of itself <br /> and any subcontractors with the requfrements of said sections in the employment of apprentices, <br /> lnformation relative fo apprenticeship standards, wage schedules, and other requirements may be <br /> obtained from the Dir�tor of tndustrial Relations, ex-offtc�o the Administrator of Apprenticeship, San <br /> Francisco,Califomia,or from the Division of Apprenticeship Standards and its branch offices. <br /> C. Pursuant to the requirements nf Division 4 of the Labor Code, the Contractor wilf be required to <br /> secure #he paymen# of worker`s compensatiori to its employees in acco�dance with the provisions of <br /> Section 3700 of fhe Labor Code. Prior to commencement of work, the Gontractor shall sign and �le with <br /> the Engineer a cert�catian in the following form: <br /> °i am aware of the provisions of Section 370Q of the Labor Cade which require every employer to <br /> be insured against liability for worker's compensation or to undertake seif-insurance in <br /> accardance with the provisions before commencing the performance of the wark of this contract." <br /> D. The Con#ractor or subcantractar shall, as a penalty to the state or politicat subdivision on whose <br /> behalf the con#ract is made or awarded, forfeit twenty-five dollars ($25)for each worker employed in the <br /> execu#ion of the contract by the respecfive cantractor or subcontractor for each calendar day during which <br /> the worker is required or permitted to wark more than 8 hours in any one calendar day and 40 hours in <br /> any one calendar week in viola#ion of the provisions of this article. <br /> SECTlON 6-CHANGES tN WORK <br /> A. Contractor sha{i make na changes in the Work without written direction from the City. Contractor <br /> shall not be compensatad for any change made without any such written direction. No changes in the <br /> work covered by this Contract shall exonerate any surety or any bond given in connecfion with this <br /> Cantract. <br /> B, If the City directs the Contractor in writing to make changes in the Work that materially affect tfie <br /> cost of performing the Work,the Contract Price wilE be adjusted based on one of the fol[owing: <br /> i. Where the Work involved is covered by unit prices con#ained in#he Contract Docurnents, <br /> by application of unit prices to ifie quantities invv(ved in the changed Work; <br /> ii. By establishment of new unit prices and related quantities for the changed Wark; <br /> iii.
