<br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS: <br /> <br />B. Presentation: Recognition of a Community Volunteer - Pat Crawford <br />(Item taken out of sequence) <br />Vice Mayor Howard thanked Ms. Crawford for volunteerism. Ms. Crawford was <br />grateful for the. honor and thanked the many people who also do so much for the <br />community. <br /> <br />A. Proclamation: Notre Dame-AmeriCorps - Pat McCormick, Site Director, Notre <br />Dame-AmeriCorps. <br />Various Ameri-Corps representatives shared how much this means to them and <br />how it gave direction in their lives. Sister Nina and Pat McCormick were <br />introduced and Mr. McCormick explained the various endeavors and the various <br />people involved. He thanked the RWC School District, and he specified three <br />schools in particular. Project READ was also recognized and the Sheriffs <br />Department. Sister Nina spoke about her experience in working with the Ameri- <br />Corps people. Vice Mayor Howard announced a May 16 fundraiser at Angelica's <br />Bistro. <br /> <br />Council Member Ira arrives and joins the dais. <br /> <br />C. Presentation: City Manager Department - Deputy City Manager Magda <br />Gonzalez, provided an overview of the department (presentation on file). Most <br />members of the Department shared with the Council what each is responsible for. <br />Council expressed appreciation for the presentation and the staff. Mayor Foust <br />explained that these presentations are both for the public and the Council's benefit. <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT <br />COUNCIUREDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARD <br /> <br />CALENDAR <br /> <br />CITY <br /> <br />Ms. Mary Mortenson, spoke about the open space vote and how the current charter works <br />and opined there is no need to change it. She said she has participated in various meetings <br />that have numerous organizations and this is a well functioning city. <br /> <br />Mr. Lou Covey, with Sustainable Redwood City, spoke about how this organization has <br />many people in their mailing list and its progress. He announced a meet-and-greet event <br />so the community can get to know the organization and invited the community and the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Ms. Kim Woodhall, spoke regarding the Open Space Charter Amendment and how as a <br />resident she perceives that it might have loopholes with issues such as consequences for <br />the future of the city and its residents.
