Ms,ns, er. <br /> <br />November 10, 2008 <br /> <br />INFORMATION ONLY <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo ,<C/CAG) presentation of the <br />2020 Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study Final Report and draft action plan <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Acknowledge the completion of the subject final report and support the future <br />development of Phase 2 of this effort. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff from the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) will make a <br />presentation to Council on the 2020 Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study (the Study) <br />results and next steps. The Final Report and the draft action plan are the results of <br />several years of study and analysis, including regular meetings for review and input by <br />the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) of elected officials and Technical Advisory <br />Committee (TAC) of staff members representing each jurisdiction involved in the study <br />area. <br /> <br />The purpose of the Study has been to identify short, medium, and long-range options <br />for addressing traffic congestion in the corridor where traffic connects between the <br />Dumbarton Bridge and Highway 101. Attachment 1 presents a map of the traffic <br />problem locations that the Study defined. The objective of this study was to define and <br />evaluate alternative traffic improvements in the study area that address the following <br />StUdy Goals: <br /> <br />. facilitate access <br />. enhance economic opportunities <br />. optimize use of existing infrastructure <br />. reduce congestion and local community impacts <br />. minimize environmental impacts on sensitive resources. <br /> <br />The study area encompasses Highway 101 from just north of Woodside Road (SR 84) <br />to just south of the Route 85 (Stevens Creek Freeway) junction, and the Bayfront <br />Expressway (SR 84) from the Dumbarton Bridge landing to Highway 101, including the <br />connecting roadways between the Bayfront Expressway and Highway 101. <br /> <br />A draft action plan for the Highway 101 - Dumbarton corridor, which is summarized in <br />Attachment 2. was developed to analyze the potential traffic solutions and provide a <br />framework for advancing selected projects into further project development and project <br />implementation.
