Ordinance amendment to increase the Wastewater Treatment Capacity Fee and <br />modify the fee calculation formula (for new construction). <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Introduce an ordinance to amend Section 27.101 of the Municipal Code to increase <br />the Wastewater Treatment Capacity Fee from $2.65 to $7.91 per gallon, and modify <br />the City's fee calculation formula to correlate with the method used by the South <br />Bayside Systems Authority. Minute Order 08-113 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27.101A OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO WASTEWATER TREATMENT CAPACITY FEES <br /> <br />City Engineer Vorametsanti gave a presentation covering, the fee schedule, and proposed <br />rates in comparison with other community rates. He stated there was an aggressive <br />campaign to inform the community of the rate increase plan via a massive mailer and <br />emails. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust sought Council questions and/or public comment, found none and asked for a <br />motion to close the Public Hearing. <br /> <br />M/S Ira/Aguirre to close the public hearing. Motion carried by a unanimous voice <br />vote. <br /> <br />M/S Pierce/Howard to introduce the ordinance to amend the Code. <br /> <br />Council Member Pierce thanked Council Member Ira for his work on the Utilities Committee. <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br /> <br />8. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br />A. Legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br />Priority Focus Bulletin No. 19-2008 to 21-2008. Council may direct staff to act on <br />positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus <br />available in City Clerk's Department). <br /> <br />B. Status Update: New Jail Site (Oral Report) - City Manager Peter Ingram gave an <br />overview of the handouts regarding the jail site and corrected an error for the May <br />15, 2008 entry which should be May 18, 2008. He stated the report would be <br />helpful as Council moves forward and offered comments. He clarified the facility's <br />new size based on the needs assessment and stated the handout would explain <br />those gaps or discrepancy in the size planned for the new facility. He stressed a <br />number of alternative sites were being considered.
