Public Comment
Nancy Radcliffe, founder of the "No New Jails" group, opined that the County had met its
civic duty and had enough jail space as is. She urged the community to go online to
www.noiails.com in order to email the County Supervisors with its opinion.

Council requested additional communication with the County to support the conclusion and
noted somewhat of a disconnect between the City and County on this issue, although they
have a good track record in other collaborative efforts. Council consensus was to continue
the efforts to meet future goals in housing and the location of the jail facility. One Council
Member suggested a task force to analyze and review the potential sites and goal
compatibility. Mayor Foust made comments about the need for continued communication
between the County and City was important. She has requested that the County remove its
plans to purchase property. Vice Mayor Howard agreed with promoting efforts to have a
better dialogue between the City and the County.

C. Council Reports on Committee Meetings Attended.

1. She spoke about the Immigrant
Study at the San Mateo County History museum and gave updates on the
Downtown Committee activities, and the commencement and recruitment for the
Chamber Leadership Committee.
