Council asked the City Attorney to address the issue of park versus residential
properties, and all the implications that exist with the port lands, when crafting the
countermeasure.
Mayor Foust spoke generally on the issue and summarized what had been
recommended by Council. The Mayor thanked all of the speakers for joining in the
process, whether people agreed and/or disagreed. She expressed pride in Redwood
City and her pride in being an elected member by the community. She outlined what
would likely happen in the next three Council meetings before bringing this to a vote.
The City Attorney went over the objectives Council would meet through the next three
meetings of July 21 July 28`h and August 4` with August 4 being their last date to
act, unless an additional Special Meeting were called. The Mayor stated this
additional period would provide the community with time to weigh in, comment on and
or review new information and wording prior to going to a vote. Council stated new
information would be available in the agenda packets the Thursday prior to each new
meeting.
Council asked about the larger scope discussion on the topic of restoration and the
future vision for the Bay lands. Council stated it would be helpful if everyone .
involved, Council and Communiry, got their information to the City Attorney or City
Manager prior to the July 21 meeting. Mayor Foust stressed that this included not
only Save the Bay and Friends of Redwood City, but also the property owners in the
area, and that since this is a Council/Community-directed measure it would be helpful
to have information from everyone involved or affected.
8.
