<br />SECTION 17. Reinforoed concrete walle shall be at least six (6) inohes <br />thiok. If the area of wall surfaoe inoluded between any two adjaoent <br />wall eolurnns and adjaoent floor girders exoeeds ,00 square feet and is <br />less than 400 square feet, the thickness of the walls shall not be less <br />than eight (8)" inohee. If the area eX(lsads 400 square feet, the wall <br />thickness shall not be less than twelve (12) inches, supported on the <br />frame at eaoh story. <br />In reinfored concrete walls the area of steel reinforoecent shall <br /> <br />aggr~gate one half of one per oent of the ares of the concrete, and xaxxx <br />o~e half shall be plaoed vertioally and one half horizontally. <br />No reinforoement shall be spaoed more than 24 inches apart. Additional <br />reinforcement eball be plaoed around openings and all reinforGement <br /> <br />"- <br />shall be wired at each intersection. All reinforoements shall be rigidly <br />oonneoted at oolumns and girders to the steel reinforoement of the same. <br />Reinforded oonorete walls may be built in the form of bea.ring walle <br />of uniform section, and of same thiokness required for briok walls. <br />If walls are built of piers and oonneoting walls, the piers shall be <br />oaloulated and constructed as columns. The oonneoting walle, if built <br />of reinforoed ooncrete without windows, may be oonsidered as self sup- <br />porting, in whioh case the thickness shall be six (6) inches in the upper <br />forty (40) feet followed by and inorease of three inches in thiokness <br />for every additional forty (40) feet height. <br /> <br />Where suoh walle are pieroed by openings for doors and windows, the <br />entire loads shall be concatrated on the piers whioh shall be proportioned <br /> <br />as "olumna. <br /> <br />Construction. <br /> <br />The following conditions shall be observed in reinforced conerete aon- <br /> <br />struction: <br /> <br />The "onerete shall be mixed. as wet as possible and deposited without <br />causing a separation of the "ement from the mixture.
