<br />3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Alicia Aguirre, Council Member <br /> <br />4. INVOCATION - Chaplain Dennis Loggie <br /> <br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> <br />A. Proclamation: In Honor of Robert (Bob) Bury, former Mayor and Council Member <br />on his 90th birthday. Mayor Foust recognized the 90th birthday of Former Council <br />Member and Mayor Bob Bury. Vice Mayor Howard thanked Mr. Bury for his legacy. <br />Council Member Bain acknowledged the work Mr. Bury is doing on the Mosquito <br />Abatement District Board. The Council and the public sang happy birthday to Mr. <br />Bury. <br /> <br />B. Update on Redwood City Neighborhood Liaison Program - Magda Gonzalez, <br />Deputy City Manager and Erica Spacher, Neighborhood Liaison Coordinator. Ms. <br />Spacher gave an overview of the program, and an update on their work and <br />activities. <br /> <br />The Vice Mayor asked that they spread the word for the Citywide/Coastal Clean-Up <br />on September 20th to increase community/neighborhood involvement in the project. <br /> <br />C. Recognition of Partners and Participants in Redwood City's Green Community <br />Efforts - Beth Ross, Environmental Initiatives Manager. Mayor Foust recognized <br />the members and thanked them for their green gifts to the public. She also <br />recognized four more businesses (Peritus Precision Translations, Positive Impact <br />Partners, Federal Shredding and Applebee's Restaurant) as being Green Business <br />certified. <br /> <br />D. Presentation: Status Update from Pilot Community Tree Board - Frank <br />Schwartz, Chair, Pilot Community Tree Board. Mr. Schwartz presented a summary <br />of the operations, and the Mayor asked that Council comments be directed towards <br />Mr. Ingram, City Manager, in preparation for meetings and discussion at a later <br />date. Council would like information brought back about their educational <br />campaign, and also information on the rubber sidewalk program. The Vice Mayor <br />would like further information on the Master Tree List, as well as the choice of trees <br />vs. sidewalks. <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Janet Borgens, Friendly Acres Neighborhood representative, thanked Peter Vorametsanti, <br />from the City's engineering office, and Mike Gibbons, from the Redwood City Public Works <br />Department for their help on a dangerous traffic issue. <br /> <br />JOINT CITY COUNCIL/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARD MEETING <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />AUGUST 11, 2008 <br />PAGE 2 <br />
