6.J. - Page 1 of 86 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: February 22, 2021 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Agreement with Pacific Coast Sales & Service, Inc. for supply of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning <br />equipment, systems, and installation services <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an Agreement for Services with Pacific <br />Coast Sales & Service, Inc. dba Pacific Coast Trane Service in the amount of $470,379. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Redwood City's (City) Public Works Services Department (PWS) is responsible for maintaining <br />all City -owned facilities. In carrying out this responsibility, staff routinely assess the condition of systems <br />vital to daily operations and identify those needing repair or replacement. Heating, ventilating, and air <br />conditioning (HVAC) systems are essential for facility operations. They are also required to keep buildings <br />operable should facilities need to serve as emergency shelters or response centers. The City's HVAC <br />systems have useful lives of fifteen years and regularly receive preventative maintenance. <br />Staff has identified Red Morton Community Center (Red Morton) as a high priority facility for system <br />replacement and upgrade due to its size, age, and the likelihood the facility may be used as a shelter or <br />response center during an emergency. To undertake this project, staff will require services from an <br />experienced contractor to furnish and replace the system's housing units.
