This includes
implementation of the City's Climate Action Plan, adopted in 2020, and helping to develop the new
countywide Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. These plans include strategies to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, reduce solid waste, address sea level rise, and increased wildfire risk. Initial
steps this year include:
1. Integrating climate -related considerations in departmental decision-making.
2. Coordinating climate action and adaptation activities interdepartmentally.
3. Identifying resources and facilitating opportunities that support climate action and adaptation for
the organization and for community members, especially those who have greater social and
economic barriers.
4. Increasing outreach to and engagement with departments, community members and
stakeholders.
5. Collaborating with community members, stakeholders, and partner organizations and agencies to
identify and implement climate action and adaptation programs.
6. Expanding climate action and adaptation opportunities for the organization and for community
members.
An update on the Climate Action Plan implementation is planned for fall 2021.
4. PRELIMINARY TEN-YEAR GENERAL FUND FORECAST
The Preliminary Ten -Year General Fund Forecast is included as Attachment A. It is accompanied by an
Economic Update in Attachment B.
Major factors contributing towards the forecast are detailed below. Staff is working closely with the City's
revenue consultants on potential recovery factors and is keeping abreast of the constant economic changes
that are occurring. This forecast will be refined by staff over the next few months as more information is
known, and an update will be included with the FY 2021-22 Recommended Budget. The Forecast assumes
that positions frozen with the current budget will remain unfilled; staff may recommend alternate
approaches to obtaining these operating savings with the FY 2021-22 Recommended Budget. Additionally,
the Forecast does not include any funding from the federal government for COVID-19 related impacts.
Congress is discussing potential relief to state and local governments as part of a COVID-19 relief bill, but the
outcome of those discussions will not be known until mid-March at the earliest.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
546
