Staff attributes this variation to a highly
competitive bidding environment. Based on the bids received, staff believes that the
low bid of $86,900.00 is reasonable and responsive, and recommends awarding the
contract to Ashlin Pacific Construction, Inc.

ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to award the contract for construction of the Master Water
Meter Replacement Project (Boardwalk Subdivision) Project and direct staff to redesign
or resolicit bids for this project.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for this project have been approved and appropriated in the budget for Fiscal
Year 2008/2009, Water Fund Capital Projects, Master Meter/Backflow Prevention which
has an available balance of $240,501 as of December 31, 2008.

~~

Jimmy Tan, P.E.
Senior Civil En . ear

Pet rVorametsanti, P.E.
City.
