<br />Mr. Gans acknowledged that they are trying to keep costs down and that people <br />use the dumping area a lot. <br /> <br />Mr. Ponty confirmed that he and the entire Board recommend approval, the City is <br />one of the co-owners of SBWMA, and that whoev'er is the contractor will report <br />directly and indirectly to the Board and to the City. <br /> <br />Council recessed 'rom 8:50 pm to 9:05 pm. City Council Meeting resumed. <br /> <br />MIS Hartnett/Ira to approve staff recommendation. Motion carries unanimously by roll <br />call vote with all Council Members present. <br /> <br />B. Franchise Agreement for Solid Waste, Recyclable Material and Organic Material <br />Collection Services in Redwood City. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />By resolution: <br />1. Approve the SBWMA Collection Services RFP Selection Board <br />Recommendation to select Norcal Waste Systems of San Mateo County for <br />both the North and South Districts ("Combined Districts"). <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to commence negotiations with Norcal Waste <br />Systems of San Mateo County for the Franchise Agreement for Solid Waste, <br />Recyclable Material, and Organic Material Collection Services with <br />consultation by the SBWMA. <br />3. Direct the City Manager to return a final Franchise Agreement for Solid <br />Waste, Recyclable Material, and Organic Material Collection Services to the <br />City Council for execution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 14898 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />TO APPROVE THE SOUTH BAYSIDE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (SBWMA) <br />COLLECTION SERVICES REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) BOARD <br />RECOMMENDATION TO SELECT NORCAL WASTE SYSTEMS OF SAN MATEO <br />COUNTY FOR BOTH THE NORTH AND SOUTH DISTRICTS <br /> <br />Mayor Foust said they would hear the staff presentation first, public comment, and then <br />the proposers for no more than 10 minutes each. She then proposed taking public <br />comment first since there were still families with young children present in the audience at <br />this late hour.
