Adoption of Redwood City Strategic Planning Process. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Council review and by motion, adopt the strategic planning process and direct staff <br />to complete preparation and implementation of the City's strategic plan. <br />Minute Order 09-016 <br /> <br />Magda Gonzalez, Deputy City, introduced the topic and provided an overview. She <br />acknowledged the various staff of the committee who worked on this (presentation on file). <br /> <br />Various Council Members made comments about the process. One Council Member <br />mentioned that the future belongs to other Council Members so Council cannot be sure <br />that this is appropriate for the future. Also it was suggested that the least jargon the best. <br />All Council Members were excited about the mission and vision of this process. One <br />Council Member mentioned that the strategic initiatives could be updated more often than <br />every five years and this might depend on what Council is in place. <br /> <br />M/S Howard/ Bain to approve the item. Motion carries unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> <br />Council took a break at 8:35 p.m. The meeting resumed at 8:50 p.m. <br /> <br />B. New General Plan. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />1. Advise the Planning Commission on desired process for completing the New <br />General Plan and its companion Programmatic Environmental Impact Report, <br />as it relates to the Cargill Saltworks Property; <br /> <br />M/S Aguirre/Hartnett to bifurcate the process and take the Cargill site out of the <br />General Plan process. Minute Order 09-018 <br /> <br />2. Advise the Planning Commission of the City Council's concurrence with the <br />draft land use maps dated January 26, 2009 for the following study area <br />corridors: <br /> <br />. Middlefield Road <br />. Woodside Road <br />· EI Camino Real <br />. Veterans/Broadway <br /> <br />These study area land use alternatives, if conceptually approved, will be made part <br />of the complete Draft Land Use Map and will be used for preparing the New <br />General Plan Elements and associated policies.
