Denise Lewis, a resident of Redwood City and Vice President of the Redwood Shores <br /> Library Foundation, stated that they had a gala event to honor major donors last <br /> Friday. She complimented and thanked Norcal Waste for their contributions and <br /> support. She stated her belief that Norcal Waste System is focused on recycling and <br /> thanked them and she recommended them as the new collection service for <br /> Redwood City. <br /> Nancy Radcliffe stated that CityTrees is celebrating the planting of their 2000` tree <br /> and she invited the community to a tree planting on National Neighborhood Day, <br /> Sunday, September 21 It will be a 20 foot valley oak to be planted at Stafford Park <br /> starting at 1 p.m. <br /> Sally Edwards stated that she supports agenda item 6.3. She said that she has been <br /> trying to subdivide her property, but it has not been approved yet, and that she gets <br /> letters from the County and the City about needing approvals from various agencies. <br /> She spoke in detail about what she has had to pay and do to lay in pipes and she <br /> said she would like some help. Mayor Foust asked the City Manager, along with <br /> Engineering staff, to follow up on this issue noting that there are some areas that the <br /> City has no jurisdiction over. <br /> Janet Borgens invited the public to a Community Emergency Response Team <br /> (CERT) sponsored blood drive on the last day of their training on Saturday, <br /> September 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bloodmobile at the Community <br /> Activities Building at 1400 Roosevelt, Redwood City. She said people can make an <br /> appointment online at blood heroes and that children can come with parents. <br /> Keith Kadera, a resident of Redwood City and the current director of Hometown <br /> Holidays, which is the Christmas event held every year and this year on December 6, <br /> 2008, said Norcal Waste has donated time and effort during the last three years to <br /> streamline, plan, and clean up after ten thousand people attending downtown events. <br /> He spoke on behalf of Norcal Waste and stated his encouragement that the City look <br /> at Norcal Waste's efforts in positive light. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Hartnett to approve the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, <br /> adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items.
